Chanel Haute Couture 2019
It was a very cold and snowy day in Paris, but inside the Grand Palais, where Chanel Haute Couture 2019 show took place, the sun was shinning, birds were singing and spring was blooming. The guests were invited to enjoy an afternoon at Chanel Villa, in South of France, where time stood by, palm trees were imposingly decorating the jardin and the pool was the main attraction.
The models walked the runway that was surrounding the pool and their hairstyle remembered us of the ’80, with a punk-inspired look. The dramatic black eyes and the bloody red lips completed Karl Lagerfeld’s vision for his haute couture.
Chanel Haute Couture 2019 showcased a collection of pastel shades as mint green, light blue, bubblegum pink and bright yellow. The tweed suit, poofed-up shoulders, ruffle trims and feathers were the main attraction of the collection.
La crème de la crème of the fashion show was the unexpected bridal gown, which this time was actually a bridal bathing suit. It is spectacular, comes with a matching glittery veil and a sequined swimming cap.
Surprisingly, at the end of the show, Karl Lagerfeld wasn’t there to walk down the runway with his bride. Karl was absent due to extreme fatigue and his right hand, Virginie Viard stepped in his shoes for a while.
“For the traditional greeting at the end of the show, Mr Lagerfeld, artistic director of Chanel, who was feeling tired, asked Virginie Viard, director of the creative studio of the house, to represent him and greet the guests alongside the bride” – the brand said in a statement to WWD
