FarFetch A Step Forward To A Fur-Free Fashion
2019 represents the year of massive changes in the fashion world. If last year, many luxury brands announced that soon they will eliminate the natural fur from their collection and others adopted sustainable technologies, this year things are moving even faster. It’s the beginning of February and we already received amazing news. Stella McCartney dropped a plastic-free eyewear collection, Los Angeles hosted the very first Vegan Fashion Week ever, Tommy Hilfiger launched a 100% Sustainable Denim Collection and Burberry in partnership with FarFetch created an exclusive cruelty-free line.
FarFetch wants to push the change even deeper, so the luxury retailer announced that by December 2019 it will stop selling natural fur fashion. This move has a great impact as FarFetch is known for being a heavy luxury fur dealer. The animal protection organisation Humane Society International (HSI) collaborated with FarFetch for years in order to reach this point of banning the natural fur.
“We applaud the brand for taking action to ensure it’s no longer buying into the horrific suffering of the animals in the fur trade. Each new fur-free announcement continues the domino effect of designers and retailers seeing the importance of distancing their brands from the fur industry’s cruelty. ” – said Claire Bass HSI executive director

Claire Bass also talked about the brands that haven’t banned yet the natural fur and are delaying to commit to this major move and put to an end the cruelty around fashion. She also pointed out that the public image of these brands is suffering an important lose among their loyal customers.
“The fur-free revolution shows no signs of slowing down, and it’s making fashion houses like Fendi, and Dolce & Gabbana that are still selling suffering look increasingly outmoded and isolated.”
