Where does this passion for fashion and accessories design come from?
How did it all begin?

The story goes that I embarked on a creative and artistic journey from the very moment memories began to take shape. For me, this happened around the age of 3, when imagination knew no limits, curiosity was unstoppable, and daydreaming was practically an Olympic sport (I admit, these things are still true today…). Over time, these elements evolved and branched out, creating a fertile space for artistic growth. The key element in my development was the desire to be different. To me, being different means beauty, intrigue, mystery, and joy. I have always strived to be original in my choices and never wanted to resemble anyone else.

That being said, what’s the first thing you notice about someone?

Whether we admit it or not, it’s often their clothing, accessories, and overall sense of style. For me, these elements became a cornerstone in defining a complete and authentic sense of self.

How did your brand get started?

The journey began in my second year of university, driven by a genuine desire to share my art with a broader audience and to grow through both praise and constructive criticism. In the beginning, it was a mix of experimentation and play, which later took shape, harmoniously, into a real brand. Of course, I faced many ups and downs, but the satisfaction at the end of the day far outweighed any feelings of insecurity or difficulty. This journey has brought me to the point where what I do now gives me the happiness I once dreamed of and has gifted me a sense I never expected—the feeling of being complete.

What are the main sources of your inspiration, and how do they influence
      your creative process?

My greatest muse is nature itself if I were to choose from many options. However, everything around me serves as a source of creative energy. It could be a single word or a passing mood—every “signal,” as I like to call it, guides me toward an idea that eventually evolves into an artistic project.

Your brand focuses on clothing and accessories. What do you enjoy creating the most?

I love to create in general, no matter what its final form will be. To have that aura filled with endless ideas is truly a remarkable feeling. Each time, I embark on a new creative adventure for new collections, and I find satisfaction in every stage of the process.

When did you realize that you wanted to develop a line of ceramic accessories alongside the clothing line?

The desire was subconsciously present from the very beginning of my journey in fashion, but it wasn’t until my second year of my master’s that I was able to materialize these signals. I learned that everything comes at its own time, especially when we are truly ready. I consider the incorporation of ceramic jewelry to be a significant step in my creative development and an important part of my artistic journey. I chose to combine ceramics to complete my artistic vision. I wanted to create full-look OCTAVIA CHIRU outfits, and this choice came from the need to add accessories that would complement the concept. Clay is a material I’ve loved since childhood when I participated in art clubs at kindergarten. Being a natural and sustainable material with endless creative possibilities and a unique finish texture, it inspired me to integrate it into my art. Another reason that led me to jewelry creation is my own desire to wear jewelry. Before the ceramic creations of OCTAVIA CHIRU, I didn’t wear jewelry at all, as I felt nothing on the market truly complemented my style. Now, however, I wear jewelry 24/7.

Given that the Octavia Chiru brand uses sustainable manufacturing techniques, how challenging is maintaining a commitment to sustainability?

Maintaining a commitment to sustainability is both challenging and rewarding. Sustainability is at the core of our values as a fashion brand, and while it requires constant effort, it also drives our creativity and innovation. The challenge lies in sourcing materials responsibly, ensuring ethical production practices, and constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint. However, these challenges are balanced by the immense satisfaction of knowing that every decision we make contributes to a more sustainable future for both fashion and the planet. The process of using natural, sustainable materials like clay in our jewelry and employing eco-friendly techniques in production pushes us to continually improve and evolve while staying true to our mission of creating beautiful, conscious fashion.

You have succeeded in creating a personal style, a playful style that characterizes the Octavia Chiru brand. How did you create such an individual style?

Over time, I realized that we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously and that life is about more than that. I wanted something atypical, fun, and bold to truly define my style and perhaps the person I wanted to become in the future. Through experimentation, I discovered what I love, and little by little, I shaped a style with a subtle touch of irony and a deeper connection to my
                soul.

How would you describe yourself as a designer? What principles guide you in your creative process before each collection?

I would describe myself as someone who stays true to my essence, aiming to create designs that are never boring and celebrate uniqueness and the beauty of being different. My pieces are designed to have soul, infused with a human touch that reflects kindness and mindfulness. The principles that guide my creative process include authenticity, emotion, and a deep respect for individuality. I strive to craft designs that not only stand out but also create a meaningful connection with people, blending beauty and purpose in each collection.

If you were to think about the future, where would you want your brand to be, and what would your role be?

In the future, I envision my brand as a symbol of creativity, authenticity, and connection, recognized both locally and internationally. I would love for it to inspire people to embrace individuality and see fashion as a way to tell their unique stories. Additionally, I hope to expand into other creative areas, exploring new forms of artistic expression that complement and enhance my brand’s identity. As for my role, I want to remain deeply involved in the creative process, shaping the vision and direction of the brand while collaborating with a talented team that shares my values. At the same time, I aspire to grow as a mentor, empowering others in the creative industry and using my platform to make a positive impact in both fashion and beyond.

Looking back on your journey to this point and seeing the bigger picture, what would be an important piece of advice for young designers at the beginning of their careers?

Looking back on my journey and seeing the bigger picture, one important piece of advice I would give to young designers at the beginning of their careers is this: stay true to yourself and your vision. It’s easy to get caught up in trends or compare yourself to others, but authenticity is what will set you apart. Be curious, experiment fearlessly, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes— they are an essential part of growth. At the same time, be prepared for the
challenges of working in a tough industry. Criticism and negativity will come, but don’t let them discourage you. Instead, use them as opportunities to grow stronger and refine your craft. Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you, and remain open to learning at every step. Most importantly, remember that success takes time. Patience, resilience, and passion will carry you through the obstacles and help you create something meaningful and lasting. Keep going, and believe in your journey.
