#ModicReview: Top 10 Collections from MFW FW2021
Under the premise of the new normal, New York gives way to Milan Fashion Week. With notable absences such as Versace or Gucci, the Camera della Moda has organized a complete calendar where almost all of the shows have been interactive. Fashion Films, Presentations behind closed doors or Collection Concept Videos have modified the pre-built aesthetics of the capital of Italian Fashion.
After reviewing the entire calendar, we have proposed the 10 collections that will set the trends for the next FW 2021.
From here I must communicate that there are notable absences for this summary. On Modic we are faithful to our values and ethics, supporting sustainability and respect for Nature. Publicly regretting this fact, we don’t give visibility to brands that continue to support the use of animal fur in their collections.

PRADA
It is always one of the most expected shows, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have created a perfect tandem that sets the benchmarks for the coming seasons. We look for the inspiration to the past in base cuts and global looks that drink from the 70s reinventing shapes and volumes; but above all, they stand out with the mix of colors and prints, giving us a touch of positivity in the midst of this gray situation that we all live in.
ELISABETTA FRANCHI
One of the great legends of Italian fashion. On this occasion, she is inspired by the femininity, grace and elegance of the Amazons horsewomen. A sophisticated collection for a chic and minimal ready-to-wear. The color palette used goes through whites, creams, toasted browns and the always present black. As notable trends we point out the cuts and prints with a vintage air and the maxi boots.
GIORGIO ARMANI
The Italian Fashion Emporio, which was one of the pioneers in closed-door shows since last year, presented two collections during the week. That of Giorgio Armani stands out for its inspiration and tribute to the natural, to nature, to the life. The garments stood out with plays of chiaroscuro tones and volumes of natural shapes created directly from the fabric. Flowers, leaves and even the marine world take shape in comfortable and simple cuts, but without losing a dot of sophistication.
ETRO
Another of the iconic brands of the week, it presents a very visual collection with feminine and ethnic airs. Patchwork, paisley, embroidery and trimmings … all these elements transport us to a very appetizing ready to wear with tribal evocations, where the versatile garments provide comfort and ease when dressing. The oranges, decorations and prints highlight selected dark tones, such as bottle green, burgundy and black.
BLUMARINE
One of the presentations with a viral trend character. The brand is inspired by the looks of the early 00’s and the celebrities who made this a legendary Fashion icon. Synthetic fur appears in accessories such as stoles, earrings, and bags; and together with the glitter rhinestones they become the great allies of this newly emerging urban trend. Floaty mini cocktail dresses with a lot of movement, Maxi Sunglasses and pastel shades all evoke good memories of bygone times.

VALENTINO
The maison presents a collection of a ready to wear very accessible to all styles. With military boots, the looks consist of overlapping lengths of garments, where the Black and White pairing is only complemented by gold. Harlequin prints, cape jackets, and cuts and perforations who we alredycan seen in PHC add a touch of sophistication to these looks, with retro inspirations. Natural fabrics, transparencies and volatile lace make us wear this time the rosso valentino in our attitude.
PHILOSOPHY DI LORENZO SERAFINI
The Italian designer presents us with a collection full of ‘enfants terribles’ models where the preppy look is the guiding. Comfortable and versatile garments through the overlap and irregularity in cuts and the mixture of fabrics and prints. All this turns the return of women to everyday life into a true urban warrior with certain baroque airs.
CALCATERRA
The brand boasts retro sophistication and reinvented tailoring. Oversized maxi garments and overlays within a palette of soil tones, where comfort does not leave trends behind. Office-style masculine looks made of natural fabrics, where size will not be a problem.
ANNAKIKI
One of the most avant-garde presentations on the shows. Again framed in a rigorous and retro-futuristic black and white duo, the garments take on a comfortable character in simple but highly visual looks. The prints frame the collection where the volumes take on an experimental character creating looks with evocations of Japanese anime.
MOSCHINO
Jeremy Scott’s immense creativity is visible with every collection. This time he brings us the elegance of the ladies of the 40s and 50s in settings as ‘Sound of Music’ style, the luxury where women are the base element for art or going back to work make us dream of the end of the dystopia we live in.
