#AstraVr and the use of multimedia technology

We can all state things got affected by the pandemic but who says it should stay like that? People around the world are finding ways to offer us experiences from the comfort of our home while still enjoying what the planet has to offer.
And so, Astra Museum brings even more to the table. As virtual reality involves having the ambiance of a normal world, it is the first open air museum in Romania to use this king of technology.
The event is part of the project “Use of state-of-the-art multimedia technology in making the ethnographic heritage of the ASTRA Museum accessible”, organized in partnership with Museums of South Trondelag (MiST, Norway)
During the exhibition, 20 pairs of VR headphones were used, audio stories about the basic occupations of the communities in the two mentioned localities were heard and comic book sequences were seen.
Hold your horses if you think that is all we got to say about it. In order to understand better the beauty of Astra Muzeum, a tour has been organized, which includes the Bastinar Farm in Sebesu de Jos, Staulul and the Sheep Farm in Rasinari, monuments exhibited in the Open-Air Museum in Dumbrava Sibiului.

Because we are talking about a day of great significance for the two communities, the Day of the Cross, the program also included a workshop on modeling the coils and participating in the reconstruction of a local custom – the Tree of Life. Also, an autumn fair was organized at which households from Rasinari, Sebesu de Jos and surroundings were waiting for us with seasonal products.
